Management Team

 

A unique team comprised of industry experts, engineers and technical advisors drives Elementa’s success. Management’s entrepreneurial spirit, knowledge of the industry and business expertise have established the Company as a leader in the development of energy-from-waste technology.

 

Jayson Zwierschke – Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer
Over the past fifteen years, Jayson has acquired senior management, operational and technology development experience with a focus on environmental and waste management companies.  As founder of Elementa, Jayson has led various key initiatives including corporate funding, technology procurement, and patent development, securing alliance partnerships with various companies, as well as general management and direction of the company.  Jayson has successfully directed environmental companies ranging from site remediation, recycling (as Operations Manager of the largest construction and demolition materials recycling company in Ontario) and environmental technology development (in-vessel composting technology).

 

Leonard Zwierschke – Co-Founder and Executive Vice President
Leonard has more than 30 years experience in the construction, transportation and enviornmental remediation industries.  He has successfully owned and operated a large development service business, acquiring experience in budgeting, corporate funding and project management, estimating, and logistics systems.  In growing a large multi-disciplined construction group, Leonard has directed his company through various and applicable projects directly related to the commercialization of Elementa.  Specifically, he has strengths in project design, project financing, bid tendering, general construction supervision, operations of mobile process equipment, and maintenance programs.

 

Ernie Dueck, P. Eng. – Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Dueck has over 30 years of experience as an engineer, including 25 years with Pratt & Whitney, where he managed two of its most technologically advanced manufacturing plants in Mississauga.  Ernie has been intimately involved with the technology development of Elementa since coming on board as Vice President of Engineering early in 2004.  Ernie’s responsibilities include the COREM tests, coordinating and directing the MOE certification efforts on behalf of Elementa, development of a complete Mass & Energy Balance program that incorporates a detailed process and financial model culminating in numerous enhancements and optimizations to the proposed Elementa system and directing the detailed engineering work undertaken by Giffels on behalf of Elementa.

 

Tom Hughes, Executive Vice President Corporate Development

Tom Hughes has over 25 years Marketing and Management Consulting experience having worked with many of Canada’s top 100 Corporations.  Experienced in strategic planning, technology development and project management Tom brings to The Elementa Group a broad knowledge base and innovative thinking to the renewable energy sector.

Technical Advisory Board


Elementa has a technology advisory board, comprised of leaders in chemical engineering, metallurgy and mechanical engineering. These board members ensure the soundness of Elementa’s SR technology and its innovative development as it moves towards commercialization.

 


Henry Miyamoto, P.Eng., FCIC - Senior Process Engineer
Mr. Miyamoto is a professional engineer and fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and has over 25 years of experience in process development and optimization with a specialization in gas purification systems and process design. Mr. Miyamoto has managed the design, installation, optimization and modification of countless international environmental and energy applications and has published over 30 papers on the subject of environmental solutions. Henry has been working closely with Elementa over the past three years to assist and guide the company in process engineering, efficient operations, power systems and design and gas cleaning applications.

 

 

Zoltan Kish, Ph.D., MCIC – Director of Research & Development
Zoltan Kish joined the Elementa Team in 2009 as a Director of Research & Development. He is a highly skilled, results-oriented professional with a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Materials Science and over 25 years of diverse industrial and academic experience, including the publication over 60 scientific papers. He has led complex research-development programs related to alternative energy, gasification and gas-to-liquids technologies, advanced materials, ceramic engine components, materials processing and electronics. With his in-depth knowledge of clean energy technology, materials science, program management and multidisciplinary approaches, Zoltan is contributing to the further development of Elementa’s technology and research-development program advancements.

 

 


Dr. Donald Kirk, Ph.D.
Dr. Kirk is a tenured professor with more than 25 years experience as a professor and inventor. Dr. Kirk is currently head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Kirk has developed 15 patents and has published over 50 papers and journals related to solid waste, hydrogen and green energy. Specifically, Dr. Kirk has extensive knowledge in the area of treatment and beneficial uses of syngases. Research conducted with Dr. Kirk and his team will provide key kinetic and thermodynamic data regarding the control and monitoring systems in the Company’s process. Research of these processes is critical to ensure efficient conversion of waste to energy, and ensure near-zero emissions of harmful greenhouse gases.

 


Dr. Craig Simpson, Ph.D.
Dr. Simpson has been involved in the research and development of advanced thermal conversion WTE technologies for approximately 20 years. In the late 1980s he participated in the research and development in plasma arc processing of MSW. In the 90’s on behalf of Enbridge Gas Distribution, he directed a research program at Queens University on gas-assisted combustion of MSW. In 2003/04, Dr. Simpson was an expert consultant and member of the City of Toronto’s Advisory Group on New & Emerging Technologies for dealing with waste issues.

 


Robert Henderson, P.Eng.
Robert Henderson is a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry in both Canada and New Zealand. Robert has worked at various levels within the Pulp and Paper industry while gaining knowledge and understanding of the critical and relevant issues that are the current and practical to modern, profitable mills. The relationship between Robert and his company (SRG Energy) provides a synergistic fit with Elementa and its technology goals; both as an industry advisor and representative of the Elementa steam reforming process to the forestry and pulp and paper business sector.
